本书以初中九年级全一册人教版英语的提优训练为目的。课内提优以课本重点内容的考查为主，又集中于单词、短语、句型的灵活应用，语法训练、口语交际等实用性题型的训练。课外提优以提升语篇阅读的综合能力为目的，主要题型有完形填空、阅读理解、任务型阅读理解及语法填空、首字母填空等新题型训练。本书按照课文顺序编写，围绕学会学习、节日、游览、中国制造的物品、发明等中心话题，每个单元安排知识梳理，并配有单元提优试卷，期中、期末设置有标准的考评试卷，以达到分层练习、步步提升的最终目的。
